Okay Sheri,

I am not sure your kids would eat what I consider yummy, so I will give you one of my kids FAVORITE dishes:

Brown up a pound or two of LEAN (the healthy part) ground beef (or you could use turkey if you really want to be healthy) with or without some onion, green pepper, garlic (I can't seem to cook without these three ingredients).

For soup, throw in a bunch of fresh veggies, OR use a couple of cans of healthy choice (or any brand if you don't mind the sodium content)veggie soup.

For a cassorole cook up a couple cups of rice (white or brown) and add that to the ground meat with a can of condensed soup (works best if you don't mind the sodium, if ya do use the healthy choice and drain some of the liquid off before stiring it into the rice/meat mixture).

Heat either to desired temp and you have your main course in minutes.

Hi Sheri,

Summer has been here long enough that your kids might be bored by now and interested in trying this...I have been growing my own food, in a jar, on the counter...SPROUTS! I know most kids turn up their noses at sprouts, but I have discovered that sprouted green lentils taste just like a fresh picked green bean from the garden. One you locate the seeds (from a health food store hopefully, mine stopped carrying them so now I have to look on the web for more) you put them in a glass jar, soak then for several hours, drain them, and then rinse and drain twice a day (morning and night). In about three days you have healthy live food to munch on. Watching the miracle of life has gotten me excited just like when I was a kid (I guess it doesn't take much to excite me). I LOVE the taste of raw green beans out of the garden, and the sprouts are much easier to grow and too harvest.
